Miris by islandmom Wins Silver Award at the 2023 WCIC Prathibhabhisheka Women Entrepreneur Awards

Shivani Tyronne, founder of Miris by Islandmom, won the Silver Award in the Start-Up Category at the 2023 WCIC Prathibhabhisheka Women Entrepreneur Awards. This marked the first national recognition for Shivani and the brand, which aims to share the story of Sri Lanka’s Nai Miris, also known as Scotch Bonnet, with the world.

“I want to express my gratitude to the Lord Almighty, who has been my pillar of strength and guidance throughout the journey of building this business.

Awards are not the sole measure of a brand’s purpose, and many women entrepreneurs thrive without recognition. I accept this award on behalf of everyone who has supported Miris, especially my family and our customers. Thank you to each and every one of you.

Our commitment to staying unique and authentic continues to guide us and set us apart.”

The ceremony took place at Hilton Colombo, with H.E. Ranil Wickremesinghe, Prof. Maithree Wickremesinghe, and U.S. Ambassador H.E. Julie Chung in attendance. The event celebrated women entrepreneurs for their resilience, determination, and achievements.
